It’s been over a year since my last update, and it’s been quite a year! A few professional highlights:
- Co-taught Music and the Mind with the amazing Haley Kragness (while learning more about music psychology and practicing strategies to engage non-majors in music-making),
- Took my first trip outside of North America to present research at ISME’s World Conference in Helsinki, Finland (while learning about navigating a city almost exclusively not in English, passport control and Customs, and the work of other scholars around the world),
- Taught another summer at Bemidji State University (while learning a lot about my own approach to teaching conducting),
- Have two research papers in-press (while continuing to learn so much about writing, research, and the publishing process),
- Accepted a tenure-track position in music education at Bucknell (effective tomorrow, while learning more about the job search process than I ever wanted to know).
I’m excited for the future. In particular, I am ready to begin reshaping the music education program and developing new programs at Bucknell!
